Our PhD Program launches at USQ

IPSWICH – As active research contributors and investors in our collective health future, we were thrilled to the launch of our new PhD program – The Next Generation at the University of Southern Queensland today! The program is a collaborative, international partnership between Humanity Health Group, University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and the Université du Québec in Montreal, Canada. It has six initial PhD candidates, whose research includes addressing barriers in transitioning from unemployment to employment and enhancing job seekers’ employability.

Back2Work is powered by Humanity Health Group. Humanity Health Group’s Founder and Managing Director Dr Kylie Henderson said the research produced from The Next Generation program would go a long way to helping those who are most vulnerable.

“We have to do better for this group, and we need to improve continuously, so these people have a better voice in the community,” Dr Henderson said.

The Next Generation will be completing a Doctor of Philosophy (known more broadly as its abbreviation PhD), a three-year full time or six-year part-time program that allows them to research a specific area of knowledge within a discipline. The overarching aims of this cohort are to assist people who have mental health concerns and are unemployed to:

  • Obtain competitive employment faster.
  • Sustain employment long term.
  • Utilise work as a means to reduce the severity of mental health concerns.
